Raspberry Pi Media Player

I recently got into hoarding media...
Specifically, I've been hoarding old 4:3 aspect ratio content. And while they look fine on modern displays, I wanted to experience them as how they were originally intended. So I decided to get a Raspberry Pi 3 model B+ because I saw online that it could be used as a "media box" and it also has an AV output which can be used to connect to a CRT TV. But I was very unknowledgeable at the time when I bought this and did not do enough research (´•︵•`). So I just bought the RPI as is without a case OR a sufficent power supply, this was a terrible decision. Because of this when I finally got it, excited and all, it would constantly give me an error, talking about how it was undervoltage and because it had no casing, I was just overral hesitant to handle a live circuit board.
To ADD onto this frustration, the 3.5mm port needed a very specific "4 Pole stereo cable", something which I had never heard of before, I had one laying around that I initially thought would work, plot twist!! it DID NOT (¬_¬). So I had to spend the last of my savings and buy a case a very specific cable AND the correct power supply.
After about two weeks of waiting, I finally got everything that I needed, but in that same time while I was waiting I found this video on Youtube about a VCR-Styled Media Player designed just for the RPI that I had!! It felt like a gift from God himself (੭ ;´ ⌂ `;)੭♡. Which worked way better than OSMC sadly and the directions were a bit easier to follow for me personally. I installed this media player and it worked flawlessly, but then another predicament hit me as I couldn't access my usb external drive that I keep all my media on. So I reached out to the author and he responded with a link to another project that allows usb mounting, and after all this hassle it finally worked... except not really. Because I had no fan-cooling and was using an external hard drive that requires power itself for it to work, so the RPI kept on overheating, which caused some of the heavier video files to lag like crazy, but other than that it works fine. I just need a fan now sigh~
